Denford Limited are Proud Founders and Sponsors of a number of innovative and unique educational projects.

Unique Educational Projects

These include the F1 in Schools STEM Challenge, which is the world’s biggest and most exciting STEM-based (Science, Technology, Engineering & Maths) project, together with the newly-launched F1 in Schools Primary Class, and the Denford Primary STEM Project, which introduces STEM learning into the Primary classroom.

These initiatives, which are aimed at stimulating students’ interest in, and understanding of design and manufacture, clearly demonstrate Denford’s dedication and financial commitment to encouraging and promoting student selection and enjoyment of STEM-based subjects.

Engineering in Motion

Engineering in Motion (EIM) is a not-for-profit organisation totally committed to providing exciting, yet challenging educational experiences, through the magnetic appeal of Formula One.

EIM runs innovative educational STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Maths) projects, with the aim of engaging and encouraging students to continue studying STEM subjects at apprentice level and in further/higher education.

These projects include the F1 in Schools STEM Challenge, including the newly-launched F1 in Schools Primary Class. These exciting global competitions currently engage with students aged 9 – 19 years from primary and secondary schools in over 51 countries around the world.

Find out more about the Challenges below.

F1 in Schools

F1 in Schools is a multi-disciplinary challenge in which teams of students aged 9-19 deploy CAD/CAM software to collaborate, design, analyse, manufacture, test, and then race miniature gas powered F1 model block cars.

F1 in Schools is the world’s most exciting STEM-based (Science, Technology, Engineering and Maths) educational project. Students taking part in the challenge are inspired to learn about physics, aerodynamics, design, manufacture, branding, graphics, sponsorship, marketing, leadership/teamwork, media skills and financial strategy, and apply them in a practical, imaginative, competitive and exciting way.

With F1 in Schools now operating globally in over 26,000 schools, across 51 countries, F1 in Schools provides a real opportunity for a learning experience of a lifetime!

F1 in Schools Primary Class

We are delighted to announce  the launch of the NEW  F1 in Schools Primary Class, which now provides Primary School pupils with a hugely-accessible first step on the ladder to competing in the global F1 in Schools STEM Challenge.

The Competition has been designed as an ideal progression from the Primary STEM Project – see below – and please note that the FREE Units of Work, as used in the Primary STEM Project, are also applicable to the F1 in Schools Primary Class, so the new Primary Class is ready to go!

The new F1in Schools Primary Class is a fully-resourced STEM and Design & Technology competition, engaging pupils aged 9-11 through a truly cross-curricular activity.  Teams taking part aim to compete at a Primary Class Regional Final, progressing on to a National Final.

Denford Primary STEM Project

The Denford Primary STEM Project introduces STEM learning at an early age and brings real-life applications of STEM to the Primary classroom.

Make STEM learning exciting and fun with this innovative classroom resource, encouraging your pupils – working individually, in pairs, or as a team – to design and make their own miniature racing car, then go on to test its aerodynamic qualities using the launch system and unique roll-out race track, and finally re-evaluate their designs to produce a winning car!

Curriculum Resources (mapped to the Primary National Curriculum), Activity Sheets and Fact Sheets are available free of charge to help pupils to develop their STEM skills through practical, hands-on activities – encouraging creativity, problem-solving, communication, confidence and teamwork.
